Jérôme Banctel invites Mohamed Cheikh

More than a simple collaboration between chefs, this is a story of talent and friendship.

The two Michelin-starred chef of La Réserve Paris has invited the winner of the 2021 edition of Top Chef to spend two months at La Pagode de Cos restaurant – the culmination of a relationship that began more than a decade ago, when Mohamed Cheikh did his first chef’s internship with Jérôme Banctel.

 

STUDENT AND TEACHER REUNITED

There’s a tempting line-up on the Parisian gourmet scene this fall, with the reunion of promising young talent Mohamed Cheikh and internationally renowned chef Jérôme Banctel at La Réserve Paris. The paths of these two passionate exponents of the culinary art have already crossed repeatedly. Eleven years before he became famous through his winning participation in Top Chef. The two have remained in contact since that time and in fact found themselves face to face on the set of Top Chef this year, one as a member of the jury, the other competing. Jérôme Banctel’s protégé took the test and then the final very seriously and fans will remember the moving video of encouragement broadcast during the show recorded by him in support of Mohamed. Given all the things they have in common – the same travel inspiration, the same vision of cooking, the same high standards – the idea of a joint project was a matter of course.

 

CHEF AT A PALACE HOTEL FOR THE FIRST TIME

Transmission and mentoring in the world of cookery are extremely important, as are loyalty and friendship. For Jérôme, entrusting the kitchens at La Pagode de Cos to Mohamed signifies the culmination of a strong and committed relationship based on common values and a shared sensibility. From 11 October to 4 December, in parallel with his highly successful pop-up Manzili restaurant, the winner of Top Chef will bring his enthusiasm, his generosity and his vibrant creativity to the new menu offered by La Pagode de Cos. In harmony with the restaurant’s concept of contemporary travel-inspired cuisine, the menu will feature flavors with influences from all over the world and represents an opportunity that Mohamed is sure to turn into a very enjoyable and festive event. The Pagoda de Cos is thus preparing to become a more irresistible address than ever!
